Shanghai were one of the pioneers of the Pro Evo Project and amongst the first teams formed in 2004. They based their football on the philosophy of the Olympic movement and tried to imitate the mantra of ‘swifter, higher, stronger’ on the football field. The original Shanghai team was made up of athletes who boasted speed as their greatest asset, and for Shanghai, it became their greatest weapon.
Shanghai dominated the inaugural P.E.P and became the most successful team in the P.E.P’s history by winning again at P.E.P III. If it wasn’t for a loss to Evangelion in P.E.P II, they would have had a hat-trick of titles. Their brand of fast flowing, one touch attacking football was unrivalled.
With a change in footwear and an increase in sports provision across the board, Shanghai has started to develop a new strategy in keeping with their Olympic beliefs. They have now started to invest heavily in youth and have signed some of the most exciting young prospects in the world. As such, Manager Rafe Kage will place great faith in his young starlets over the coming years and the potential they can go on to achieve.
Shanghai is the only team in the Pro Evo Project with extensive exposure in both the Far East (from which they originate) and South America. As arguably the most famous and successful team in the P.E.P, the Shanghai brand has been developed to suit the worldwide market. They are the only team to play without names on the back of their shirt as they feel the name of the team is more important than the name of they player.
